The National Revenue Authority (NRA) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have reaffirmed their partnership through an experience-sharing engagement focused on strengthening domestic revenue mobilisation, public financial management, procurement, asset management, and institutional efficiency.
Leading the UNDP delegation, Deputy Resident Representative, Kevin Petrini, emphasized the importance of strong public financial systems and domestic resource mobilization in accelerating Sierra Leone’s sustainable development.
Speaking on behalf of the Commissioner General, Senior Director of Modernization, Sahid Conteh, welcomed the UNDP Sierra Leone and Lesotho teams and reaffirmed the NRA’s commitment to sharing best practices under the Government Development Financing (GDF) initiative. He commended the longstanding partnership with UNDP, noting its positive impact on institutional capacity, taxpayer compliance, and domestic revenue mobilization, while calling for continued collaboration in implementing the Medium-Term Revenue Strategy (MTRS).
Additionally, acting Procurement Chair, Ben Tucker, highlighted UNDP’s support in modernizing the Authority’s procurement and asset management systems through operational vehicles and an automated procurement platform that has improved efficiency, transparency, and value for money.
Representing the Public Affairs and Tax Education Manager, Janet J. Khan, acknowledged UNDP’s support for taxpayer education and the Block Management System (BMS), describing the initiative as instrumental in expanding taxpayer access to services and promoting voluntary tax compliance.
Finally, the engagement concluded with both institutions reaffirming their commitment to strengthening institutional capacity, enhancing public financial management, and advancing sustainable domestic revenue mobilization for Sierra Leone’s development.
