NRA Seals BBT Quarry in Cline Town Over NLe 276,935 EIA Licence Debt
The National Revenue Authority (NRA) has sealed off BBT Quarry in Cline Town after the operator failed to pay an outstanding Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) licence fee amounting to NLe 276,935.42.
The enforcement action was carried out by the NRA’s Non-Tax Revenue Department as part of ongoing compliance checks on statutory payments and environmental licensing requirements, according to the authority.
Officials said the move is intended to improve adherence to national revenue laws and ensure that businesses in regulated sectors meet their financial obligations to the state.
The NRA did not say whether the quarry operator has responded to the action or when the site might reopen.
The authority has urged businesses and taxpayers to settle their obligations promptly to avoid enforcement measures, including closure of operations.
The quarry, located in Cline Town, Freetown, falls under regulated industrial activities that require environmental approval and compliance monitoring.
The NRA reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening domestic revenue collection and supporting government development priorities through enforcement of tax and non-tax obligations.
