Government Reports Major Decline in Tensions During Paramount Chief Elections

The Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs has reported significant improvements in the conduct of Paramount Chief elections across Sierra Leone, noting a steady decline in tensions associated with the process.

Minister Ambassador Tamba John Lamina made the disclosure during the Government’s Weekly Press Conference held at the Miatta Civic Center in Freetown.

He said the Ministry has continued to conduct free, fair and credible Paramount Chief elections, with many of the contests now taking place peacefully and in what he described as a celebratory atmosphere.

The Minister attributed the progress to sustained reforms and stronger collaboration between the Ministry, traditional authorities and local stakeholders.

According to him, the reduction in electoral tensions reflects growing public confidence in the process and contributes to stability within chiefdoms and local communities.
