Parliament has approved the new Minister of Finance, Sheku Ahmed Fantamadi Bangura after being interviewed by Committee Room 1 in Parliament.

The Deputy Leader of Government Business, Hon. Bashiru Silikie was pleased with the new Finance Minister while acknowledging his appointment as a merited one. He urged the Minister to work diligently while drawing example of lethargic attitude of some previously approved nominees.

Another member of the committee, Hon. Dr. Mark-Mahmoud Kalokoh heaped praises on the new Minister believing that his resume positions him to perform well in handling the nation’s finance. He further admonished him to proffer solutions in mending the economy and also respect the law.

The President of the Female Caucus, Hon. Veronica Kadie Sesay, pointed out that the president was right in his decision to appoint Bangura as the new Finance Minister. She appreciated her outstanding performance as Deputy Minister and admonished to perform well at the ministry’s top job.

The new finance minister was approved on Friday 13th January this year together with three other presidential appointees.

Alfred Jalil Momodu, Jacob Lahai and Edward M. Kpakra were approved to serve as Deputy Director General of Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA), Member Board of Directors Road Maintenance Fund and Member Independent Peace Commission respectively.
