Plan International and Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Information and Civic Education have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration in areas including youth empowerment, civic education, public information, and citizen engagement.
The renewed commitment was highlighted during a courtesy meeting between senior officials of Plan International West and Central Africa (WACA) and the Minister of Information and Civic Education, Hon. Chernor A. Bah.
The delegation, led by Plan International WACA Regional Director Alasan Senghore, included Evariste Sindayigaya, Sub-Regional Director for Sahel West Africa, and Muniratu Issifu, Country Director of Plan International Sierra Leone.
During the engagement, Minister Bah recognised Plan International’s long-standing contribution to Sierra Leone’s development, describing the organisation as a trusted partner that has supported the country through different stages of its progress.
The Minister also reflected on his personal connection with the organisation, noting that his early advocacy journey was influenced by the work of Plan International. He said this experience helped shape his commitment to leadership, public service, and supporting vulnerable groups.
He highlighted the importance of continued cooperation between the Ministry and Plan International in promoting civic awareness, empowering young people, and improving communication between citizens and government.
Speaking on behalf of Plan International, Alasan Senghore reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to supporting Sierra Leone’s development priorities, particularly initiatives that create opportunities for children and young people.
Evariste Sindayigaya praised the Ministry’s leadership and commended Minister Bah’s focus on inclusive governance and gender equality. He described the Minister’s approach as an example of leadership that continues to advocate for the rights and participation of women, girls, and young people.
The meeting reflects a continued partnership between Plan International and the Government of Sierra Leone, with both institutions aiming to strengthen efforts that promote informed citizens, youth participation, and sustainable development.
