The Regional Commander of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) North West Region, AIG Hillary Sao Kanu, has donated 200 bags of cement from her personal resources towards the construction of a permanent Regional Police Headquarters in Port Loko City.

The donation forms part of efforts to establish a permanent facility for the regional police command, with additional construction materials, including sand, granite and stone dust, mobilised to support the project.

According to information from the region, block-making commenced on Tuesday, 27 October 2026, with community members participating in communal labour. The foundation for the proposed headquarters is expected to be laid in early November.

AIG Kanu has also engaged commercial motorbike riders, youths and women to encourage community participation and ownership of the project.

Upon assuming office, she inherited an interim headquarters project initiated by her predecessor, AIG Joseph Ibrahim Lahai.

With support from the Inspector-General of Police, Mr William Fayia Sellu, she has since mobilised resources towards completing the building, with the regional command expected to relocate to the facility by December 2026.

The initiative highlights ongoing efforts to improve police infrastructure in the North West Region while strengthening cooperation between the police and local communities.

The proposed permanent headquarters is expected to provide the regional command with a dedicated facility to support its administrative and operational responsibilities.
