The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Ambrose Michael Sovula has informed news men that the Police will undertake a nationwide awareness raising jogging on peace, non- violence and intimidation.

According to the IGP, the jogging will commence Saturday 2nd April with 1,500 Police Officers in the Capital City, converging at the Police National Headquarters on George Street.

“From Headquarters, we will split the personnel into two groups: 750 will head to the Eastern part of the city and terminate at Kissy Police Barracks field, while the other 750 will head to Lumley Beach Road” said Dr. Sovula.

The awareness raising jogging, he went on to explain, ‘will be about messages of peace, non- violence, promoting tolerance, cohesion and showcasing the Police’s strength to executive their constitutional and statutory functions to society’.

He further disclosed that these messages of peace and goodwill will be transmitted through songs as the officers jog to their destinations.

It is to be noted that the SLP national jogging exercise which will commence today (2/04/22) in Freetown is expected to be replicated to the other regional headquarters in subsequent weeks, the IGP concluded.
