The Acting Head of Media for the Sierra Leone Police (SLP), ASP Mohamed Bobson Senu, has confirmed that security forces are continuing efforts to locate and arrest alleged drug kingpin Jos Lederkers, also known as Umar Sheriff.
Speaking in a recent interview with Truth Media, ASP Senu said the police remain committed to tracking down wanted individuals and ensuring that justice is served. He noted that the SLP has a record of successfully apprehending suspects, citing a recent case involving a Guinean national who allegedly committed murder and fled to Sierra Leone before being traced and arrested through established legal procedures.
ASP Senu emphasised that such operations require strong public cooperation, stressing that community support is crucial in helping law enforcement locate suspects.
“People are saying that Jos Lederkers is in this country, but when was the last time anyone went to the police to report seeing him?” he questioned.
He further explained that locating suspects can be a complex and time-consuming process, noting that the police rely heavily on credible information from the public.
“The police are not everywhere in the community, and the civilian population outweighs the SLP,” Senu said, underscoring the importance of citizens working with law enforcement agencies.
The SLP Media Head reiterated that efforts to locate Umar Sheriff, alias Jos Lederkers, remain ongoing as investigations continue.
