After a decade of its existence at the Three Mile Village on the Makeni -Kabala Highway , police in the Northeast Region have relocated the said checkpoint to Sowulia village in Bombali District.

The decision to relocate the check point from Three-Mile to neighboring Sawulla Village according to AIG Gabriel Tommy, the Regional Police Commander a, came after residents of the village complained of rampant , hijacking thievery and other b burglary related as well as unknown armed robbers and smugglers using other routes in Sawulia Village to boycott the Checkpoint which was few miles away from the village.

“And to amicably answer to the clarion call of the community people of Sawulia Village we decided to transfer the checkpoint with the hope that our Personnel stationed at the Sawulia Checkpoint will now be able to properly inspect motor bikes, vehicles and pedestrians to detect crime with the support of the residents of this area.”

AIG Tommy explained bat an event Organized to officially publicize the transfer of the checkpoint .

Responding to the AIG on behalf of the residents of Sawulia Village was town headman Amadu Mansaray, he thanked the Sierra Leone Police for listening to their aging cry as a community and for collaborating with them to not only transferring the Checkpoint to their Village but for also erecting a permanent police post that will help the police in the discharge of their at the said checkpoint.

” Mr. AIG Sir, we are hoping that  your personnel discharge their duties  at the checkpoint professionally  and our fullest support  to the community level to clamp down on armed robbery, smuggling and other  crimes is assured ” the Sawulia  headman added.

The event ended the  with the introduction of. Inspector sulaiman  Koroma to the community people as the Officer in charge of the Checkpoint, followed by the erection of the checkpoint.
