Conteh (62) and Mohamed Kamara (57) appeared before Magistrate Mamakoh Saio Kallon at Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 3, facing six charges related to unlawful possession and control of a firearm.

The accused were charged with possession of arms without a license, custody of arms without a license, and control of arms without a license. The allegations cover the period between 1 January 2023 and 19 May 2025 at Mothaim Village, Western Area, Freetown.

Mohamed Kamara, the first accused, allegedly possessed a single-barrel shotgun (serial number 133477) without a valid license, and unlawfully had custody and control of the firearm. Conteh, the second accused, faced similar charges involving the same weapon.

No plea was taken when the charges were read. Inspector T. Macfoy, leading the prosecution, presented the first witness to commence proceedings.

Given the seriousness of the case, Magistrate Kallon denied bail and ordered both men to be remanded at the Male Correctional Centre. The matter was adjourned to 23 September 2025 for further hearing
