Sierra Leone’s Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) has ruled on the petitions filed against the conduct and outcome of portions of the main opposition, the All people’s Congress (APC) Party’s district and regional Executives Elections.
PPRC made this revealation in a statement issued today, Friday 17 February 2023.
According to PPRC, they received Petitions against the said conduct and outcome of APC’s district and regional Executives Elections in Bombali, Falaba, Koinadugu, Kono and East East Districts, the Ghana branch, the Western and Southern Regions and the Young Congress Organ.
The Commision noted that the Petitions came in at a time they were leaving for a study tour of the Inter Party Committee, in the sister Republic of the Gambia.
“On the delegation’s return on the 13th February 2023, Notice was immediately issued to the Parties, for the hearing of the Petitions, on the 15th February 2023,” PPRC stated.
They added that before the return date on the Notice aforesaid, the Commission received a total of four withdrawals out of the nine Petitions received.
“On the hearing date, the Petitioners from Falaba, Bombali, East East Districts and Western Region did not appear before the Commission, to prosecute their Petitions, apparently, in furtherance of their aforementioned withdrawals,” PPRC stated.
