President Bio Arrives in Dakar for Youth Olympic Games and Sports Summit
President Julius Maada Bio has arrived in Dakar, Senegal, to attend a summit on sports and development and the opening ceremony of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games.
Bio travelled with First Lady Fatima Maada Bio and was welcomed at the airport by Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
The visit brings Sierra Leone’s president to an international gathering focused on sports development, alongside an Olympic event that will bring together young athletes from different parts of the world.

The Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games will provide a platform for young competitors to demonstrate their abilities while promoting friendship, cultural exchange, mutual respect and fair play.
The event is also expected to draw international attention to Africa’s role in global sports, as Dakar becomes the first African city to host an Olympic event.
The Youth Olympic Games combine sporting competition with opportunities for young people to connect across cultures and countries.
