Sierra Leone President Dr. Julius Maada Bio on Sunday, 19 July 2026, led fellow Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in the symbolic signing of the ECOWAS Unity Wall during the 69th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority held in Lungi.

The ceremonial signing formed part of activities marking the regional summit, bringing together leaders from across West Africa to reaffirm their collective commitment to strengthening cooperation and advancing the objectives of the ECOWAS bloc.

The ECOWAS Unity Wall serves as a lasting symbol of regional solidarity, reflecting the shared resolve of Member States to promote peace, stability, unity, and deeper regional integration.

By leading the symbolic exercise, President Bio joined his fellow regional leaders in demonstrating their commitment to fostering stronger partnerships and reinforcing the principles that underpin ECOWAS as it continues to address common challenges and pursue sustainable development across West Africa.

The 69th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority is expected to focus on key regional priorities, including peace and security, economic integration, democratic governance, and collective efforts to promote stability and prosperity within the sub-region.
