The President, Julius Maada Bio has launched the Poppy Week at the State House, to acknowledge the courage and sacrifice of the late Armed Forces Members who served their Country, and to acknowledge our responsibility to work for the peace they fought hard to achieve.

Poppy Days are remembrance days owing to the tradition of wearing remembrance poppy flower. It is a Memorial Day observed in honor of armed forces members who have given their lives in battle.

Red Poppy is worn to commemorate the Soldiers who died in war and it is worn on the left side of the chest so that it stays as close to the heart as possible.

During times of War, individual acts of heroism occur frequently; only a few are ever recorded and receive official recognition, that is why Poppy days are Launched in honor of these great soldiers.

” let us remember all those who made the ultimate sacrifice for principles that live on and make our world a better place” President Bio said.
