Former President of Sierra Leone, H.E. Ernest Bai Koroma, is once again joining his peers in the West African Elders Forum (WAEF) at a Sub-regional Dialogue on Sustaining Democratic Principles in West Africa. The two- day dialogue, which is scheduled to take place between the 12th and 13th May 2022 in Dakar, Senegal, will continue to look at the re-emergence of coups in, and challenges to West Africa’s democratic advancement.
Specifically, the Dakar meeting will unveil some research findings on the state of democracy in the ECOWAS sub – region. It will also develop a blueprint for the short to medium and long term responses to unconstitutional changes of governments in West Africa.
This dialogue is bringing together policy experts, political leaders, civil society activists and diplomats, to brainstorm and highlight the underlying factors that could be attributed to the reversal of West Africa’s gains in democracy, peace and security.
Former President Ernest Bai Koroma will depart Freetown for Dakar Wednesday 11 May and will return on Saturday 14 May, 2022.
