Former Presidential Aide Sheriff Mahmud Ismail has dismissed viral social media claims alleging that former President Ernest Bai Koroma is either seriously ill or has passed away.

The rumours, which have been widely circulated online in recent days, sparked public concern and speculation about the former Head of State’s wellbeing. However, they have since been described as false and misleading.

Reacting to the reports, Sheriff Ismail clarified that former President Koroma is in good health and remains active, stressing that there is no truth to the claims being shared on social media platforms.

According to him, the former president is not only alive but also physically well, noting that he continues to engage in normal activities, including sports.

“Fmr President Koroma is so hale and hearty that he still plays squash! By God’s grace, he shall outlive those wishing him evil,” Ismail stated, dismissing the rumours as baseless.

The clarification comes amid growing concerns over the spread of unverified information online, particularly involving public figures. As of now, there has been no official confirmation supporting the death or critical illness claims, while sources close to the former president maintain that he is in stable condition.
