APC Leader in Parliament Condemns Removal of Jury Trials in Criminal Proceedings Act as ‘Danger to Justice’
Mohamed Aruna Sierra Leone’s Main Opposition Minority Leader in Parliament, Hon. Abdul Kargbo has reacted to the removal of trial by jury in the criminal proceedings in the country.
He revealed that they voted against it and not in anyway supporting it and called on the president to see reasons to return the bill back to the bill
“We, the APC MPs, believe that the removal of the trial in the criminal proceedings act is dangerous for our justice system. Regardless of the fact that we lost the vote against it removal, I beseech the president to return the bill to parliament,” he stated.
Sir, elections have consequences. You lost the vote on the bill, so you can’t turn round and ask for a new debate on the same bill.
