Minister Sackey Strengthens Collaboration on Evidence-Based Education Policies
Aminata Koroma The Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, Conrad Sackey, has held a strategic meeting with representatives from the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) and Education.org to strengthen collaboration on evidence-based education policies in Sierra Leone.
The discussion, attended by Giulia Di Filippantonio of Education.org, and Alvin Kimani and Amani Karisa of APHRC, focused on integrating research into education reforms, particularly the implementation of the Radical Inclusion Policy.
Minister Sackey emphasized that effective policies must be grounded in strong, context-specific research to achieve real impact. He highlighted key priorities such as gender mainstreaming, inclusive education, and addressing barriers faced by female teachers.
He further noted the Ministry’s commitment to building internal research capacity, stating that the goal is not only to apply existing research but also to generate local evidence that tells Sierra Leone’s own story of progress and educational transformation.
