On Tuesday 8 March 2022, in celebration of International Women’s Day, former presidential candidate of the All Peoples Congress (APC), Samura Kamara provided food and drinks to market women in Freetown.

Samura Kamara and his team moved across major markets in Freetown dishing out cooked and non-cooked food, drinks, and water to market women as a means of celebrating and honouring them.

It is reported that Kamara decided to undertake such a venture as a result of the current excruciating high cost of living and suffering the women are going through especially in trying to put food on the table.

“You have been cooking for the Men for 365 days, so I deemed it fit to cook for you this day as this day is your day,” he said.

Samura Kamara and his team served food, drinks, and water at Ogo Farm, Funkia, Aberdeen, Murray town, Lumley, Nathoma , Abacha Street, Dove Cut, Bombay Street, Wellington, Calaba town, and Waterloo markets.

At Waterloo Market, Dr. Samura Kamara vowed to always be there for the women as they are mostly the victim of circumstance.

He emphasized this year’s theme which is “Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow.”
