The leading presidential candidate of the All People’s Congress (APC), Samura Kamara has declared solidarity with Sierra Leonean women that are protesting over the current economic hardship.

Samura Kamara made this stance on a social media post.

“TODAY, I stand in solidarity with the women of Sierra Leone as they go out unified as patriotic citizens expressing their opinions on the current situation in the Country, expecting that their cries will be heard by a sincere and Listening Government!” the former presidential candidate stated.

Earlier today the women took to the street of Freetown dressed in all black, calling on the government to listen to their constraints.

It was however reported that the Sierra Leone Police have arrested 17 of the women protesters and taken them to Ross Road Police Station.

It is also reported that the 17 women have been held in detention with lawyers being denied access to them.
