In two weeks, on June 24th, 2023, Sierra Leone will be heading to the polls. In light of this upcoming event, Francis Langumba Keili, the Director General of the Office of National Security (ONS), has addressed the issue of security within the country.

As the election campaign intensifies across various regions, reports of alleged violence have raised concerns. Francis has taken a firm stance, declaring that the ONS will demonstrate a strong presence to deter wrongdoers nationwide.

He emphasized that those who attempt to disrupt the electoral process will face severe consequences, potentially leading to imprisonment at either Pademba Road or Mafanta prisons.

Furthermore, he emphasized that the importance of security during this election cannot be compromised or negotiated.

“Starting today we shall be putting up a show of force. If you think you will disrupt the process you will face the consequences, you will either spend time at Pademba Road or Mafanta Prison. Security in this election is non-negotiable”.
