In the latest Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Scorecard for 2024, Sierra Leone’s performance showed a decline as the nation passed only 10 out of 20 indicators.

This marks a decrease from the previous year (2023) when Sierra Leone successfully met 11 of the MCC indicators.

Comparing this to the performance in 2021 and 2022 when Sierra Leone impressively passed 13 indicators, the 2024 results raise questions about the country’s ability to maintain the positive trend in key areas assessed by the MCC.

Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio on Monday 6 November 2023 received the eagerly awaited 2024 Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Scorecard from the United States Ambassador today.

The MCC Scorecard is a critical assessment of a country’s performance in areas such as governance, economic freedom, and investments in its people.

The Scorecard is a crucial tool for evaluating a nation’s eligibility for the MCC Compact, a significant financial assistance program designed to support economic growth and poverty reduction in developing countries.

Sierra Leone’s reduced performance in the 2024 Scorecard highlights the need for continued efforts to address the identified areas of concern and maintain eligibility for future MCC Compacts.
