The Freetown international airport has released a public statement noting that all passengers are required to pay a safety fee of $25.

According to the Airport Authority, the fee will be paid by both departing and arriving passengers in the airport.

“To ensure airport safety, we are required to charge an Airport Security fee of $25 (credit/debit card processing fees are not included) to each departing and arriving passenger to and from all international airports in Sierra Leone,” the airport authority stated.

They claimed that the fee is for the safety of passengers.

” The application fee will allow the authorities to utilize cutting edge border control technology tools to ensure the safety of passengers, airports installations, and other airport related hardware and equipment,” the airport noted.

Payment of this fee will be effective on the 1st of July 2022
