I want to express my views on the age requirement outlined in the recent recruitment notice for the Sierra Leone Armed Forces (SLAF). While I commend the efforts to establish clear eligibility criteria, I would like to suggest a reconsideration of the age limit, particularly for Officer Cadets and trades applicants.
The current age range of 18 to 25 for Officer Cadets excludes a significant number of Sierra Leoneans who, due to educational commitments, are still in school during this period. Many individuals who graduate beyond this age are highly qualified and eager to serve but find themselves excluded due to the upper age limit. Additionally, the age limit of 25 does not account for the many jobless but capable citizens above this range who possess valuable skills, experience, and maturity that can greatly benefit the SLAF.
I propose that the age limit be adjusted to at least 30 years. This change would not only provide opportunities for a broader pool of candidates but also ensure that more experienced and qualified individuals have a chance to contribute to the nation’s defense forces.
Thank you for considering this suggestion. I trust that the SLAF remains committed to inclusivity and maximizing the potential of all Sierra Leoneans willing to serve.
Fact bro
Bro age limit nr fr dae on specialist. They should have just look into individual fitness, health and the readiness to serve
I’m sulaiman foday please Mr foday Afred consider me to be part of the Sierra Leone army force applicant.
One is tempted to ask why we need an increased army? A military that can hardly protect the country’s territorial border but is quick to turn their guns on the citizens they are meant to protect. Consider the following statistics: SL population (~8M), military (~ 10K), police (~ 14K), doctors (< 1K), engineers (< 0.3K),
We seem to be spending more on security (an economic liability) than on doctors, engineers, teachers (economic assets). Justification? The govt. is more concerned about protecting their grip on power than providing services for the ordinary people.
AGE:20_25years and must have 5years experience. MORE EXPLANATION IS NEEDED HERE
We need explanation throughly
They’re all stupid in that institution.
Hmm, way u talk den arrest upan dos kind of tin dem.
If someone has five years of experience to earn the job how many years was he or she was before leaving the university? Considering the age limit, bra u sef know say e nor possible. Una tell we say una get una yon people dem now 4 the job una just wan pull bad name.
Your very self know you were not at this age with all this qualifications mentioned above why do you intend to do so now? However, remember we are in sierra leone and you how education is, spending 5 years just to find English at what age do you expect the individual to enter university? Sometimes is not the pupils fault but the institution body which the WASCE. Wicked and heartless institution, they will not hold you in any other subjects just in Mathematics and English Language simple because they knows if they hold you on one you will not enter university but to rewrite the WASCE examination again. I hate this body, I want the government to bring another body.
Can you kindly reread the notice before justifying wrongly. The age limit (18-25) is for Cadet officers while the 5 years experience slated on the above notice is for specialists*Truck drivers, carpenters, electricians etc). So makesure you understand the contents of the write up before you start saying something you don’t know.
Why wiring electrician are not need
In RSLAF?
Please the age limit,
How to go about this one
Here is Africa, the age limit is not made for African. So the government want us to use false document here. Because at age 25 with a first degree and five years experience is not easy. The age limit should have been 18-35 at least.
[email protected]
Even the US age limit is 35 yrs to enter the army. In 2011 they even recruited at 41 yrs. Sometimes age is a blessing. Because you make good leadership decisions. As an officer at 25 yrs, you are still not mature like the 35 yrs old. Though some sound mind can superse a 35 yrs but at minimal. That being said, the other aspect of this advert is the education. Most Sierra Leoneans can’t get a first degree at 25yrs and 5 years work experience concurrently. So let’s cut the crap and just slot your children because the oldsos don’t want to loose the barracks apartments so is handed over from father to son/ daughter. And so the circle continues. Well done oldsos. Can’t blame you. Ose heart fi get
Sure that’s why no respect now between the old man and the new baby officer
How can I get the form

Even in my dreams I’ll never think of joining RSLAF, it’s a scout institution not military, besides they don’t offer many facilities to the officers. Politics is deep within the military in Sierra Leone.
Way posin want die quick leh e go join Salone soja especially under Maada Bio E regime.
