Sierra Leone Partial Presidential Results: APC’s Samura Kamara Leads in 8 Districts

Sierra Leone’s Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) on Monday announced the release of partial results for the Presidential Elections held on June 24, 2023.

With the votes from 60% of the polling stations tallied, the electoral commission says that the incumbent President and candidate of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP). Julius Maada Bio has a 56% share. Samura Kamara, of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC), is currently trailing by 42%.

These results were cleared by the ECSL Result Management systems at Regional Tally Centres in Freetown, Bo, Kenema, Makeni, and Port Loko. In order to win in the first round a candidate needs more than 55% of votes.

Sierra Leone has 16 districts across which elections were conducted on Saturday. According to the provisional results, the APC is leading in 8 districts including Bombali, Koinadugu, Tonkolili, Kambia, Karene, Port Loko, Western Urban and Western Rural.
