Sierra Leone Theatre Group Visits High Commissioner Kaisamba Ahead of Heritage Festival in Ghana
Sierra Leone’s representatives at this year’s Heritage Theatre Arts Festival paid a courtesy visit to High Commissioner Mohamed Hassan Kaisamba at the Sierra Leone High Commission in Ghana, reaffirming cultural ties and seeking official support ahead of their main showcase.
The festival, organized by Heritage of Africa in collaboration with the University of Ghana’s School of Performing Arts, brings together talent from across the continent to celebrate African dramatic arts.
Leading the delegation, Dr. Fatou Taqi, Coordinator of the University of Sierra Leone Creative & Theatre Group, briefed High Commissioner Kaisamba and embassy staff on the group’s mission in Ghana. She emphasized that participating in the festival presents a vital platform to showcase Sierra Leone’s rich theatrical heritage to an international audience.
Dr. Taqi highlighted the diverse composition of the performing group, which features students selected from all three constituent colleges of the University of Sierra Leone: Fourah Bay College (FBC), the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM), and the College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences (COMAHS).
Emphasizing civic duty and unity, Dr. Taqi noted that it is essential for Sierra Leoneans traveling abroad to connect with their country’s diplomatic missions. She formally invited High Commissioner Kaisamba and his diplomatic staff to attend and support the group’s upcoming performance of the acclaimed play, Blood of a Stranger, scheduled for Thursday, April 8, 2026, at the University of Ghana’s ETS Studio Theatre.

Welcoming the delegation, High Commissioner Kaisamba commended the students and organizers for their initiative and expressed pride in receiving them at the High Commission.
“As theatre arts performers, you carry the responsibility of showcasing Sierra Leone’s rich culture and talent to the world,” High Commissioner Kaisamba told the group, describing the students as cultural ambassadors for the nation.
He encouraged the young performers to maintain their dedication and excellence, assuring the team that the High Commission and its staff would attend the festival to offer their full support during the staging of the play.
