Four Sierra Leonean students from various universities in the country have departed the shore of Sierra Leone for a month-long academic residency and an education tour of United States institutions of higher learning.

This is revealed on a social media post from the U.S. Embassy in Freetown.

“Safe travels to our amazing 2022 SUSI students as they embark on a month-long academic residency and an education tour of U.S. institutions of higher learning!” The Embassy stated.

“Study of the United States Institutes (SUSI) is one of many different ways the United States invests in Sierra Leone’s greatest natural resource, the next generation.”

The US Embassy further stated that, “Hawa Kuyateh, Manja Lebbie, Yabonett Sesay and Hawa Sheriff, representing the Milton Margai University, Ernest Bai Koroma University, the Port Loko College, and the Eastern Technical University will engage in rigorous academic coursework and panel discussions, interact, and establish networks with American scholars, meet with experts in respective disciplines, visit civic institutions, and in some cases, participate in research symposia and conferences.”

“We can’t wait to hear what you learn on your trip!”
