The Sierra Leone DJ’S Union (SLeDU), has appointed an interim president, DJ Jesse to occupy as well as complete the late president’s, DJ Lawva remaining term of office.
DJ Jesse was unanimously approved by other DJs in the country to rule as president in place late DJ Lawva.
According to the release, the professional DJs union on 12th February 2023 met in Freetown and unanimously chose DJ Jesse as their ‘substantive president’ in accordance with the constitution.
This development was possible as a result of the letter of interest DJ Jesse tendered to the Union to occupy the position that has since been vacant.
According to the press release, the constitution makes provision for a situation when a president could not finish his term of office due to illness or natural occurrence, the Union is at liberty to appoint an interim president to complete the remaining term.
The release noted further that in such a material position for the presidency of the union, the constitution gives clear cut mandate to the Advisory Council to meet on the advice of its members and terminate the term of the decease and since he’s dead, the other elected by the Council will act towards completing the task left by the deceased President.
It emphasised that due regard paid to the demised President during his tenure of office, suchlike consideration should equally be paid to the new president, DJ Jesse.
DJ Lawva, the late President assumed power on the 19th of December 2020, and the election took place in Kenema. He was regarded as an outstanding DJ who had a great passion for music and the entertainment industry at large.
