The Inspector General of Police Dr. Ambrose Sovula has on Thursday the 10th of March 2022, told journalists that the recruitment process is on course in order to recruit an additional two thousand police constables into the police force.

He disclosed that over thirty thousand applicants applied but only twenty thousand applicants were shortlisted to take the police examination which will was conducted on Saturday the 12th of March 2022.

Addressing journalists, IG Sovula noted that because the welfare of the force is now very encouraging under his leadership, people now have high demands to join the force.

He added that every family member now wants to associate themselves with the Sierra Leone Police because of the enormous opportunities in the Sierra Leone Police.

“It will interest you to know that over 30,000 people applied and 20,000 have been shortlisted where we only need not more than 2,000. So, the police have become an institution that has caught the eyes of every Sierra Leoneans. Every family wants to have at least one police officer”, he said.

A-Z Newspaper reports that, the Inspector General of Police therefore, encouraged the general public to support the Sierra Leone police in executing its constitutional mandate. He acknowledged that the public has the right to critic the police but such criticism should be very constructive.

“If you critic us constructively we are bound to change as the edage goes only God and fools will not change. But thank God we the police are not God and fools”, he explained.
