SLRSA Boss Completes Global Transport Studies Programme at Oxford
Aminata Koroma The Executive Director of the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA), James Bagie Bio, has completed a five-day international programme on Global Challenges in Transport at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.
The programme was held from 21-25 September 2026 at St Peter’s College. The Oxford Transport Studies Unit, in partnership with Road Safety Action International (RSAI) under the theme, “Equity and Justice in Transport.”
It brought together senior transport and road-safety officials from across the region to examine issues surrounding mobility, transport governance, equity and justice.
Bio’s participation focused on strengthening his exposure to international approaches to transport management and road safety, with discussions examining how transport systems and policies influence access, opportunity and mobility.
Representatives from Liberia, including the Minister of Public Works and the Deputy Minister responsible for Land and Rail Transport, as well as The Gambia’s Director of Transport, also participated in the programme.
For SLRSA, the Oxford programme provided an opportunity to enhance institutional knowledge and strengthen international collaboration as the Authority continues efforts to address Sierra Leone’s road-safety challenges.
The experience is expected to support Bio’s leadership at SLRSA, particularly in developing approaches that place safety, accessibility and the needs of vulnerable road users at the centre of transport planning.
The Authority says the knowledge gained will contribute to its broader efforts to promote safer roads, improved mobility and a more inclusive and sustainable transport system in Sierra Leone.
