Statistics Sierra Leone will announce the provisional results of the 2021 Mid-Term Population and Housing Census on 31st May 2022 at 12 noon at its Headquarters, A.J. Momoh Street, Tower hill, Freetown.

The Census which is highly unpopular among the opposition kicked off on December 10, 2021 amidst financial challenges and poor planning. This follows after World Bank, a major funder of the Census withdrew from releasing additional funds and providing further technical assistance for the exercise.

Following the conduct of the country’s first ever mid-term population and housing census, Statistics Sierra Leone, on Thursday 10th February 2022 disclosed that it will embark on what it described as the winding up exercise.

The winding down exercise came after Stats-SL revealed that it has covered a significant landscape of the entire country. The institution was not helpful as to the exactness of the areas covered, but maintained that it has gone far in covering the entire country.

As results are set to be announced, there are reports that it will be used for boundary delimitation that the National Electoral Commission (NEC) intends to include in the 2023 general elections.

This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
