Statistics Sierra Leone (Stats SL) has issued a disclaimer regarding a fraudulent recruitment notice circulating on social media.
The notice falsely claims that Stats SL is recruiting personnel for the upcoming Decennial Population and Housing Census.
Stats SL clarified that the notice and accompanying link are false and misleading, representing a deliberate attempt to misrepresent the institution. They urged the public to disregard the misinformation.
The agency emphasized that official announcements regarding census recruitment will be communicated through established channels, including radio, television, newspapers, the Stats SL website, press releases, and news articles, at the appropriate time.
Stats SL also reiterated that it does not request payment from individuals seeking recruitment for data collection activities. The public is therefore advised to be wary of scammers attempting to solicit money.
