Former defensive midfielder of FC Kallon and AC Millan, Rodney Strasser has on Wednesday, 26th February, 2025, visited Hon. Alhaji Dr. Kandeh K. Yumkella at the State House, and discussed his philanthropic endeavors and the establishment of his new foundation aimed at enhancing community development in Sierra Leone.
Strasser, who has earned praises for his impactful community-driven initiatives both locally and internationally, expressed his commitment to contribute positively to the nation.
He elaborated on various projects he has undertaken in education, healthcare, and youth empowerment, all aimed at uplifting marginalized communities throughout Sierra Leone.
During the meeting, Strasser highlighted the objectives of his foundation, provision of resources, training, and support to grassroots organizations, that seeks to improve coordination among various stakeholders to bolster Sierra Leone’s development agenda. He asserted that the foundation intends to create a unified approach that prioritizes effective and collaborative solutions to pressing community issues.
Hon. Dr. Yumkella, who chairs both the Presidential Initiative on Climate Change Renewable Energy and Food Security (PI-CREF) and the Energy Governance Coordination Group (EGCG), lauded Strasser’s dedication to national growth. He emphasized the need for strong partnerships in tackling the country’s multifaceted challenges, including climate change and food insecurity, which directly affect vulnerable populations.
Throughout the discussion, the two leaders noted the importance of integrating sports as a tool for social development and community cohesion. They expressed their belief that engaging youth in sports and community service could lead to a more vibrant and empowered generation.
