The Inspector General of the Sierra Leone Police, Ambrose Sovula, has threatened that police officers will only access their salaries after showing evidence of being vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine.

He said this while reminding government officials including the Sierra Leone Police of government’s directive that no public official will be allowed to access government offices until they prove evidence of vaccination.

He stated that government has undertaken a vaccine surge across the country which ends on 1st September, 2021, and he is therefore enjoining all government officials to take the vaccine.

He noted that there will promotion interviews in the SLP, and that the interviewers have to be protected, adding that priority for promotion interview will be given to those who have been vaccinated.

He encouraged all police personnel to take the vaccine and comply with this administrative order because, according to him, failure to do so will be at the peril of the defaulter.
