The Mid-term Census Was Illegitimate From The Beginning – Chericoco Blasts
Ishmaila Jalloh The All People’s Congress members of Parliament have held a press conference on the ongoing controversial Mid-term Census.
Speaking on the legitimacy of the Census, the Leader of the Main Opposition in Parliament, Honorable Chernor Maju Bah, stated that the Midterm Census is Illegitimate from the beginning.
He said that though the President has the power to call a Mid-term Census but Parliament has Standing Orders which must be followed and procedures must be observed.
He stated that in fact Statistics had begun work on the Midterm Census before the instrument was laid in Parliament, adding that commencing such work before the instrument was laid in Parliament in itself illegitimizes the conduct of the Mid-term Census.
Honorable Bah highlighted that the main purpose of the Census is to interfare with the political geography of the country, adding that Statistics have prepared figures already for the Census.
