One would wonder whether this is supposed to have happened at all. Musa Samura, 23 years old, on Friday 10th September 2021 made his first appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at the Pademba Road Court No. 1 on allegation of theft at the Presidential Lodge.

According to the indictment, the accused, Samura, on the 31st August 2021 at State Lodge, Hill Station the Western Area in Freetown conspired together with other persons unknown to commit a crime to wit, Burglary and Larceny and with intent to steal, broke and entered into State Lodge and stole therein 50kg padi rice, half bag onions, two cartons tomatoes, quantity of assorted Maggie, four local chickens and one big knife all valued one million one hundred and thirty thousand Leones (1,130,000) property of the state.

Awoko reports that the accused is arraigned on two counts Charges to wit Conspiracy to commit a felony contrary to law and Burglary and Larceny. According to the findings of the police, the accused person passed through three check points and four observation posts manned by military and police officers (OSD).

Sergeant Sao Lamin spotted the accused person from a distance but he hid himself somewhere in the compound of the Presidential Lodge, until he was arrested by one Captain Tejan Martin who is attached at the Lodge as a Presidential Guard, and was handed over to the police.

Witnesses are yet to testify against Samura. Magistrate Sahr Kekura remanded the accused and he adjourned the matter to the 15th September 2021. Sergeant Dwight Marcathy is prosecuting the matter.
