AKWAABA Travel Market Limited, the biggest travel expo in West Africa has awarded Sierra Leone’s Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Dr. Memunatu Pratt as the winner of West Africa Tourism Minister of the year for leading women in travel and tourism in Africa.

The prestigious award was in recognition of Dr. Pratt’s laudable strides in the improvement of tourism and the rebranding of Sierra Leone’s image. She was recently appointed by UNWTO to chair the global platform for women in tourism, a milestone that epitomized international confidence in her leadership.

Since her appointment in 2018 by President Julius Maada Bio, Dr. Memunatu Pratt has positioned the sector locally and internationally by implementing programs aimed at increasing domestic tourism and marketing the destination in international trade fairs. Under her watch, the Ministry has restored the confidence of donor partners; World Bank, EIF, and UNDP in the implementation of the activities of the Ministry and its agencies.
