U.S. Embassy in Freetown Announces Temporary Closure for Independence Day Observance
Sia Lucy Kannah The United States Embassy in Freetown has announced the temporary closure of its facilities as the United States prepares for the upcoming 250th Independence Day (Semiquincentennial) celebrations.
In an official statement shared on social media, the embassy confirmed that it will suspend normal operations to observe the national milestone.
“The U.S. Embassy will be closed for official business on July 3 in celebration of America’s Independence Day,” the statement read. “The Embassy will resume operations on Monday, July 6.”
The closure forms part of nationwide observances marking Independence Day, which commemorates the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.
The embassy also highlighted the cultural significance of the holiday, describing it as a time for “family, friends, neighbors, and community” to come together in celebration.
