The outgoing UN Resident Coordinator in Sierra Leone, Babatunde Ahonsi, on Wednesday November 8th 2023, bade farewell to the country’s Speaker of Parliament, Dr Abass Bundu, complimenting his crucial role played in the success of the Parliament.

Ahonsi took to Twitter saying: “Today, I took leave of Dr Abass Bundu, Speaker of Parliament, as I come to the end of my tenure in 🇸🇱. I commended his role in leading an imp. arm of Govt despite the global crises affecting the country, and P/ment for enacting several devpt & peace-enabling laws.”

Dr. Ahonsi ends his tour of duty to Sierra Leone on the 28th November, 2023.

Ahonsi, a Nigeria national with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Sociology (First Class Honors) from the University of Lagos and a Ph.D. in Population Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science, UK, has more than 20 years of experience in international development.

He earned respect and popularity among Sierra Leoneans shortly after his arrival to Sierra Leone as UN coordinator on September 2020.

He has played a significant role in cultivating bilateral ties and mutual cooperation between the US and SierraLeone.

Sierra Leoneans are grateful to him, among many things, his role played as residents coordinator to the country.
