The United Nations Development Programme [UNDP] has awarded two Sierra Leoneans Journalists, Kemo Cham and Christian Conteh for winning the Best Gender Reporting and Best Reporting on Environment .

The awards were presented at SLAJ Sierra Leone Annual National Media Awards 2023. Both were rewarded with a laptop and voice recorder generously provided by UNDP.

This prestigious event recognizes media professionals for their dedication to professionalism, courage, and ethical conduct within the Sierra Leonean media landscape. BBC’s Umaru Fofanah and Rise Radio’s Asmaa James served as masters of ceremony, while BBC Media Action’s Edward Kargbo led the judging panel.

The SLAJ’s National Media Awards celebrate the important role journalists play in Sierra Leone and encourage continued commitment to high professional standards.

UNDP has had a presence in Sierra Leone since 1965, working in partnership with the Government of Sierra Leone, civil society and local communities.
