The United Nation Development Programme UNDP in Sierra Leone has handed over a brand-new vehicle to the Ministry of Environment & Climate Change to enhance monitoring of the Western Area Peninsula (WAP) Project.
The said initiative strengthens conservation efforts and promotes sustainable environmental practices. funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
The WAP Project protects the Western Area Peninsula Forest Reserve from deforestation, habitat destruction, and climate change through biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, and community engagement.
During the presentation of the Vehicle, the Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP in Sierra Leone Sayed Sahibzada emphasized the timeliness and the importances of the vehicle to the Ministry of Environment & Climate Change to enhance monitoring of the Western Area Peninsula (WAP) Project.
“This vehicle will enhance the Ministry’s ability to monitor and manage the WAP Forest Reserve for long-term sustainability.”
Presenting the of Ministry of Environment & Climate Change, the Permanent Secretary Madam Elizabeth Hawa Ellie express heartfelt thanks to the UNDP and GEF, stating the importances of the vehicle by highlighting.
“With this vehicle, our teams will be better equipped to protect the Western Area Peninsula.”
The donation reaffirms UNDP’s commitment to environmental sustainability and its partnership with the Government of Sierra Leone.
