The Bishop of Makeni Diocese, His Lordship Bob John Hassan Koroma has been installed as the third Chancellor of the University of Makeni (UNIMAK).

Bishop Koroma took charge in a historic ceremony at the Yoni Campus on Saturday, March 9, 2024 that drew a distinguished audience, including notable figures from academia and various development sectors.

Chairman of the Tertiary Education Commission, Professor Alghali, commended Bishop Koroma for his humility and exceptional leadership qualities during the ceremony.

UNIMAK Vice Chancellor, Professor Joseph Turay, expressed delight in welcoming Bishop Koroma as the new Chancellor, referring to this as a defining historic moment for the university. “We look forward to his guidance and support at this crucial juncture in UNIMAK’s history within our community,” Professor Turay remarked.

Professor Turay further reflected on the significance of the Diocese of Makeni passing the baton to an indigenous-led episcopacy, seeing it as a testament to the growth and maturity of the church and, more specifically, the University of Makeni.

Bishop Bob John Hassan Koroma, in his inaugural address as Chancellor, conveyed his deep humility and commitment to upholding the values and traditions of academic excellence that have characterized UNIMAK since its establishment. He urged all UNIMAK staff to respect the rights of students and maintain high standards.
