University Court Poise to Investigate Financial And Administrative Matters at USL
Morlai Ibrahim Kamara The University of Sierra Leone Communications Directorate has updated the Public that the Court of the University of Sierra Leone received correspondence on 15th May, 2024 from the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education (MTHE) to investigate Financial and Administrative irregularities at USL since 2018 to 2023.
Prior to the dissolution of the University Court in January, 2024, MTHE was advised by the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) to dissolve the University Court with immediate effect; to annul all decisions or resolutions made by the Court since December 11th, 2023 to the date the Court was dissolved; to constitute an oversight committee of management of the University until a new Court is constituted and to conduct investigation.
According to USL Communications Directorate, the Chancellor and Chairman of Court will soon update the Court about the investigation committee, the procedures and processes of the investigation and the commencement date pursuant to the Universities Acts 2021, USL HR policy, University ordinance, USL conditions of service, financial manual, and related instruments.
Dose the ministry has the right and power to desovle the court this is useless
