IGP William Sellu Welcomes Liberian Counterpart for Three-Day Regional Security Talks
Sahid Bangura Inspector General of Police William Fayia Sellu has welcomed his Liberian counterpart, Gregory Coleman, to Freetown for a three-day security engagement aimed at strengthening cross-border cooperation in West Africa.
The meeting, which began on November 7, is part of ongoing efforts to bolster joint operations, intelligence sharing, and the fight against organized crime in the sub-region.
According to the Sierra Leone Police, the visit is expected to deepen existing security ties, enhance intelligence, and solidify collaborative efforts between the two countries.
IG Sellu, who also serves as Chairman of the West Africa Police Chiefs Committee (WAPCCO), will lead the discussions during the high-level visit. He is also set to welcome the Inspector General of the Gambia Police Force, Seedy Touray.
Security analysts have welcomed the meeting, citing increasing concerns over the movement of drugs and narcotics across regional borders. There has been a rise in cross-border seizures of Kush and cannabis along the Sierra Leone-Liberia frontier, heightening calls for stronger collaborative policing.
The Sierra Leone Police stated that the meeting will enhance regional cooperation and security, aligning with the goals of the West Africa Police Chiefs Committee.
