Members from the Motor Drivers Union and General Transport Workers Union in Sierra Leone have on Wednesday 5th July 2023 paid a courtesy visit to the President Elect-Julius Maada Bio of the Republic of Sierra Leone in the June 24th general elections.
The visit also covers their congratulatory message to the president over his re-election as president of the country.
The team consists of members from each district and region of the country and are mainly major heads at their different service points within the country.
The President has also met with the farmers’ federation and the traders union which serves as part of his government’s effort in the second term mandate to swiftly commence with their flagship national development priority termed ‘FEED SALONE’.
President Bio noted that the flagship initiative is geared to boost agricultural productivity that may ensure sustainable food security and inclusive economic growth in the country.
In his statement, the President expressed his appreciation for receiving this set of individuals that matter to society. He said their work is very important to the nation adding that, they appreciate the work of the unions, as they are movers of the economy, and taking the bold step to congratulate him, has shown that the transport sector will be stable in the country for the citizens. He assured them of making their work easy and profitable for them in the sector.
He said all the efforts the government is making to construct good roads and bridges are to make sure that, individuals in the sector have their work at ease at every possible time.
