Chairman of the Presidential Initiative on Climate Change, Renewable Energy and Food Security, Hon. Alhaji Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella has met with the boards of the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) and the Electrical Generation and Transmission Company (EGTC) to discuss the future of energy in Sierra Leone.

The meeting focused on President Dr. Julius Maada Bio’s plan for energy independence, which aims to reduce Sierra Leone’s dependency on foreign energy sources, ongoing talks with Karpowership about potential energy supply solutions, and how renewable energy can be included in the country’s power mix.

They also discussed the government’s plans to increase power generation in the short term and move towards a more sustainable energy future.

Leaders from EDSA and EGTC promised to work together to solve energy challenges, improve efficiency, and make sure the power system is more reliable for all Sierra Leoneans.
