The Chairman of the Presidential Initiative on Climate Change, Renewable Energy, and Food Security, Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella, has visited the Bumbuna Hydro Dam to obtain first-hand information regarding its current status.

The visit was for him to get accurate information on the current situation and operations of the Dam in Bumbuna. According to him, his main purpose of the visit is to find answers to the current energy problem faced by the county and how solutions and mechanisms can be sorted out to have a long lasted positive effect on the challenges in the country.

“Bumbuna is currently operating on an 8meggawatt instead on 50 because of the drop in the water level and some of these drops in water level can be related to climate change issues, deforestation issues.” he stated.

He said, President Bio is committed to providing a reliable, sustainable, and affordable electricity supply for the people of Sierra Leone for which the government has developed one energy transition plan that will provide a better energy supply system in the country for up to ten years and above, adding that, the plan will not only be for this regime but will serve different Presidents and governance systems yet to come.
