It would be very difficult for us to have a President like Julius Maada Bio, who has an open mind for his People and Country as a whole. Notwithstanding what happened during the August 10th, 2022 APC planned insurrection to dethrone him, but as a Father of the Nation, President Bio remained cool and calculated in finding the best possible ways on how to address the issues.

In doing so, President Bio had a series of engagements with different factions in relation to the August 10th rebellious act. The latest among such engagements involved the leaderships of Civil Society Organisations, the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists, and the Sierra Leone Bar Association. President Bio who played host to the aforementioned people at State House demonstrated leadership, where he gave listening ears to the aforementioned groups in Sierra Leone.

As someone who is open to criticism, President Bio thanked the CSOs and his Media Friends for what he tagged as constructive criticisms of his Government and their assessments of Governance issues, the majority of which are both negative and positive.

You may agree with Uncle Sankara Media Platform that President Bio and his Government has done for Journalists and the Media as a whole, no other Government has done even 50% of such, despite receiving the unfair bashing from the Media.

President Bio has repealed the 55 years old criminal Libel Law, which used to criminalize the work of Journalists, his Government has also being given subvention to SLAJ, and finally, no Journalists are in jail under his reign among many other developments.

According to President Bio even though people don’t want to take responsibility for the atrocities committed that day, but with the aid of technology, his Government was able to identify those behind the insurrection.

While proffering solutions to President Bio, the President of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists, Ahmed Sahid Nasralla, outrightly condemned the violence attack on August 10th noting that it was not necessary at all.
Mr. Nasaralla voiced out his condolences to the President and the bereaved families and called on everybody to take responsibility of what transpired which led to the loss of lives and properties.

A similar statement was also shared by the President of the Sierra Leone Bar Association, Madam Eddinia Michaela Swallow, who described August 10th as a very sad and terrible day for the people of Sierra Leone.

The Bar Association President pointed out the Peace and Unity among Sierra Leone through the successful means of power transfer over the years but was shocked by what happened that fate day.
Though the riot was faceless, but it was planned and fuelled by individuals in society, noting that as lawyers, those perpetrators must be brought to book.

Ibrahim Tomy from the Centre of Accountability and Rule of Law also made salient contributions during the engagement and called on the authority to investigate the violence act as well.
It is very clear that the APC planned, funded, and fuelled the August 10th, 2022 insurrection, but as a man who believe in democracy, President Bio will follow the law to the letter to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book.
