Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has recently assured the people of Kono that the President Rtd. Brig. Julius Maada Bio will anytime soon visit the district.

The Vice President made this assurance during his recent visit to the district where he received a rousing welcome and had fruitful discussions with stakeholders of the district.

According to the Vice President, whilst in Kono the President will also meet with senior SLPP party stakeholders and traditional authorities including Paramount Chiefs.

Whilst in Kono, President Bio is also expected to turn the sod for the construction of the new Kono University.

Kono District is considered as a swing state as witnessed in past elections based on the voting pattern of indigenes. Currently, the battle for Kono is reportedly keen between the two leading political parties – Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) and All People’s Congress (APC).

Just last weekend, the two frontrunners aspiring for flagbearership position of the APC, former presidential candidate, Dr. Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara and former Vice President Chief Alhaji Samuel Sam-Sumana stormed the district and they reportedly received warm welcomes by thousand of Kono people, especially APC members.
