The National Secretariat of the All People’s Congress (APC) has announced the rescheduling of its pending constituency elections, shifting the exercise from Saturday, 11th July to Saturday, 18th July 2026.
The decision follows a series of directives issued by the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) on Thursday, 9th July 2026, which the party says have significantly affected preparations for the elections. In response, the APC National Secretariat undertook administrative and legal steps to ensure full compliance with the new regulations.
In a public notice, the party emphasized that the postponement reflects its commitment to the rule of law, constitutional governance, and the conduct of transparent, credible, and inclusive internal elections.
The Secretariat acknowledged that the change in date may inconvenience members, delegates, aspirants, and party officials who had made extensive preparations for the earlier schedule. It, however, expressed appreciation for their patience and continued confidence in the party’s democratic processes.
Describing the moment as critical in the party’s journey, the APC urged its members to remain calm, disciplined, and united. The Secretariat cautioned against actions or statements that could create tension or division, instead encouraging dialogue, mutual respect, and comradeship among stakeholders.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that all eligible members participate in a free, fair, and credible electoral process, while promising to provide timely updates as preparations continue.
The APC concluded by calling on all members to stay focused on the broader goal of strengthening the party through peaceful and lawful internal democratic processes.
